Michael Anderson and A.J. Bland founded Jackson Mountain Homes, Inc. in the summer of 1994 as a source for the finest Gatlinburg Cabins and Gatlinburg Chalets. Prior to this time, both Michael and A.J. operated successful businesses, Michael in the nuclear power industry and A.J. in the adventure cruise industry. Although Michael and A.J. had been friends since the early 70’s, as fate would have it, they both sold their Florida based companies almost simultaneously in 1993.
In 1994 the partnership was cemented, all of the required real estate licenses were in place and the groundwork was being laid for the summer of ‘95 opening of the Jackson Mountain Homes, Inc. office in Gatlinburg’s Winery Square.
In early August 1995, Jackson Mountain Homes opened its doors with only one vacation rental cabin on its program, the Blue Heron, which remains there today along with four other cabins with the same owners. Over the years, Jackson Mountain Homes has grown considerably. In 2001, with JMH bursting at the seams in the Winery Square location, they purchased the 10,000+ sq. ft. current location of 1662 East Parkway in east Gatlinburg.
Today JMH manages more than 175 homes in the greater Gatlinburg area with the help of many full time employees and scores of subcontract housekeepers and maintenance personnel. As a leader in the vacation rental industry, JMH was among the first companies in Sevier County to feature a state approved computer based reservations and owner accounting system, Entech, within the Instant Software family.
“Of course Entech is still our favorite Instant Software product, we truly love the accounting,” says Christine Maltese, Director of Operations. “Our favorite module is the Instant Processing Credit Card module; we could not imagine using separate terminals ever again! Working with Kaba has also been exceptional; they are very professional and helpful”.
Along with its professional commitments, Jackson Mountain Homes is also committed to the community through volunteer efforts and donations to the Appalachian Bear Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, the Good Hope Clinic, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, the Sevier County Animal Shelter, the local schools and much more.
As Jackson Mountain Homes grows it will continue to be the premier source for vacation rental properties and real estate in Gatlinburg and the surrounding Great Smoky Mountains area and is committed to provide guests, owners, and prospective owners with the highest quality accommodations and services possible.
