Leadership Team

Mr. Hopcroft co-founded Instant Software, Inc., on March 18th 1996. Since its inception he has lead the company: directing its operations, acquisitions and organic growth, taking it to a level previously unheard of in this market. Instant Software is, today, the most successful company ever to have operated in this market. Prior to forming Instant Software, David co-founded Instant Analysis in London, England. Instant Analysis was successful in providing analysis and consulting services to manufacturing industries in the UK.

Prior to Instant Analysis, David was Director of Operations for an international company based in London, where he guided its success, increasing both gross revenues by some 360% and net income by over 575% during his tenure. David has also held executive positions with Lumex (GB) Ltd, Emess Plc and Quest Ltd. David brings to Instant Software a wide range of experiences, from controlling a chain of retail outlets to directing international companies. David was educated in the English Public School system (known in USA as Private Schools) receiving all his qualifications, accreditations and certifications in the UK.

Doug Macnaught is the co-founder and President of the company, prior to Instant Software he was a partner in Instant Analysis Ltd. a UK Consulting company founded with Dave Hopcroft in 1992. Educated in London, Doug started in Retail Computer sales in the early 1980’s. He joined a computer software company in 1984 that specialized in custom software for varied Manufacturing and Logistics businesses. Throughout the eight years he was with Protech he progressed to a senior management level as a systems analyst and implementations manager. Married to Heather in 1987, they have two children.

Edward “Ted” Miller is a native of Vermont and holds a Business Degree from Champlain College. Ted has been in the vacation rental sector of the leisure travel industry since 1986.  Prior to joining the Instant Software team, Ted served as a both a residential and commercial real estate broker in Vermont.  His real estate involvement also included the development planning of a luxury golf course and the development and construction of residential subdivisions.  Ted has previously held executive positions in both a multi-location vacation rental company and a luxury vacation property travel portal company.   Prior to his currently held position, Ted was responsible for the development, management and growth of Stay-USA.com.

Richard A Stanton brings a wealth of corporate experience to Instant Software in his role as Director of Operations. Richard spent the ten years previous to joining our team working out of Thailand, where he worked for a Thai conglomerate and was responsible for risk analysis in Thailand and China. Richard also has extensive experience in property and rental management having worked in the Vacation Rental Industry in central Florida for a number of years. 

Having graduated as an United Kingdom Chartered Accountant, Richard has worked in over forty countries and lived in nine throughout his career and now happily calls Colorado home.

Andrew Lippitt, Chief Technology Officer, brings a wealth of talent to Instant Software having started his career as a professional software entrepreneur at age 17.

A year later, Andrew became a partner in Rapid Application Developers, a successful software consulting firm in upstate New York specializing in government projects. In 2002, his company of 45 employees was acquired by CGI (www.CGI.com), a multinational IT firm. After departing CGI in 2004, Andrew and his wife relocated to Denver, Colorado. Until he became part of the Instant Software Team, Andrew worked as an independent consultant.

A salesman from his early years, George started his sales career selling the Aspen Times for 10cents a paper in Aspen Colorado.. By 18, George was running a Brazilian Bikini business in Santa Barbara California. Gaining a BS degree in Pharmacology from the University of Southern California, led him into hardware and software sales for a Biomedical and Military company. From there, George worked for IBM and then Infogenesis, where he gained experience in the hospitality market supporting most of the major casinos in Las Vegas and cruise lines around the world.

Moving to Colorado in 1994 to work with First Resort Software, George helped build the company by selling hundreds of systems and leading the First Resort sales effort. In 2004 George left First Resort to join Instant Software managing the sales and marketing efforts, and assisted with the acquisition of First Resort by Instant Software later that year. A love for the Vacation Rental Industry and the people that work in it has kept George focusing his talents on this industry. As the Director of Sales, George and his team use a consultative sales approach that provides existing and new clients with the best option from our suite of products, providing them the industry leading technology that Instant Software creates.

As Director of Research, George Volsky will be creating reports as well as decision support tools that will be integrated into the Instant Software family of products.  George is the primary speaker at Vacation Rental University, which Instant Software sponsors.  George was Director of Research at Escapia before joining Instant Software.  He is one of the Vacation Rental industry's most respected analysts and consultants. An attorney and former vacation rental manager, George is a regular speaker at Vacation Rental Manager Association (VRMA) conferences. He has studied resort markets across the nation, projected the economic impact of vacation rentals on state and local economies, closely tracked corporate efforts to "roll up" individual rental companies, advised rental managers on competitive strategies, analyzed the effect of discounts on occupancy, and developed decision support tools that slice and dice raw reservation data. George has written software that simplifies housekeeping dispatch and payroll, developed methodologies to help rental managers price, acquire and keep inventory, and assisted rental managers in determining the sale value of vacation rental companies.

Joining Instant Software in 1994, Scott holds the distinction of being the first 'official' employee of the company. Scott was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Vacation Rental Industry's first Windows based  software solution, PropertyPlus. Scott has held a variety of leadership positions with Instant Software throughout the years, most recently being the Director of Client Care.

Before Instant Software, Scott worked in the Vacation Rental Industry as a rental manager and has held various customer service positions with hotels and resorts. Scott grew up and graduated from college in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.

Stephen Compton joined the Instant Software Team in March 2006 with a focus on developing Channel Partner relationships.  Stephen’s responsibilities were soon extended to include managing all business partnerships as Director of Business Relations.  Stephen brings ten years of experience in the vacation rental industry beginning in 1996 with his role as Property Relations Manager for Aspen Central Reservations where he effectively managed the reservation distribution needs of ninety-two lodging companies located in Aspen, Colorado.  In 1999, Stephen joined the First Resort Software Team and spent the next five years dedicated to achieving high-level customer service through various job responsibilities including customer support, software training, client relations and business development.  Today, as Director of Business Relations, Stephen is committed to fostering new business partnerships with companies promoting innovative business solutions designed to help Instant Software’s clients work smarter.
