- CREATING LOCKOFFS
The first thing you should do to
create lockoffs is to draw out the lockoff chain you want to create.
Having a drawing in front of you will make it easier to create it
correctly.
Here is the Lockoff we are going to
create with this document.

In this example Unit E is the parent
of Units C and D. Unit C is the parent of Units A and B.
Here is how this Lockoff Tree is going
to work.
If Unit A is booked, Units C and E are
locked off but Units B and D are available.
If Unit B is booked, Units C and E are
locked off but Units A and D are available.
If Unit C is booked, Units A, B and E
are locked off but Unit D is available.
If Unit D is booked, Unit E is locked
off but Units A, B, and C are available.
If Unit E is booked, all other units
will be locked off.
Another thing to consider is where you
want the revenue for each unit to go. In this example, we have set up
all revenue to go to the owner of Unit E.
Here are the steps to create this
Lockoff Tree.
Step 1
Draw the
Lockoff Tree. It really helps when you can visualize what you are
trying to accomplish.
Step 2
Create each
Unit and assign that unit a contract. Don’t worry about the revenue
stream at this point, we’ll get to that later. Just have all the units
and contracts in place before you begin to build the Lockoff Tree.
Step 3
Start with
your top level Lockoff Unit (In this example, this would be Unit E). Go
to the unit screen and click the Lockoff Tab.

Step 4
On the
Lockoff Screen, click the Add Icon.

Step 5
Enter in the
information. In this example Unit E is the Parent of Unit C so the
relationship is Parent. The Unit Name drop down will list every unit in
V12.NET.
Type in any
Description you want. Normally, Lockoffs remove units from availability
so set that to Yes.
The “Revenue
to” field will initially be blank until a Unit Name is chosen. Once
that selection is made the Revenue To field will be populated will all
the Units that are currently members of the Lockoff Tree. Select the
Unit you want the revenue to go to.

Step
6
Once you have
all the information in hand, click the Save Icon.

Step 7
Since Unit E
in this example is also the Parent of Unit D, Repeat steps 4 – 6 to add
that relationship. When you are finished, Unit E’s lockoff tab should
look like this.

Step 8
Go to the
units Primary screen and make sure that the “Revenue To” screen shows
where you want the revenue of this unit to go to. In this example we
want all of the Revenue to go to Unit E, so, on Unit E, we make sure the
revenue goes to Unit E.

Step 9
Go to one of
the Child Units for the part of the tree that you just created. In this
example we will go to Unit D.
Verify that
the revenue goes where you want it to and that the lockoff relationship
is reflected correctly. In this example, Unit D is the child of Unit E.

Step 10
Now let’s go
look at the other child unit (Unit C). This unit will also be a parent
to two other units (Units A and B).
First we
verify that the Revenue stream is correct and that the lockoff
relationship with Unit E is also correct.

Step
11
We can finish
off this Lockoff Tree from Unit C. Just click the Add icon again and
create the Parent relationship to Units A and B.
When you are
finished with Unit C, the Lockoff Tab will look like this.

Again, the
revenue stream in this example, goes to Unit E.
Step
12
Verify that
Units A and B both have the revenue going to Unit E and that the lockoff
tree is correct.

Step
13
Book Each
Unit, one at a time to ensure the Lockoff Tree works as desired.
Unit A is booked;
Units C and E are locked off. Units B and D are available.
